Mozilla ha annunciato il rilascio di Firefox 40.0. Questa nuova versione porta con se il pieno supporto a Windows 10 che si traduce anche in un look più curato dell'ui che si armonizza al meglio con il sistema.

Altra grande novità è il potenziamento della funzionalità che consente a Firefox di bloccare software potenzialmente pericoloso. La funzionalità in questione, aggiunta in Firefox 39, è stata ora estesa anche alle versioni per Mac e Linux. In aggiunta a questo, Firefox 40 è ora in grado di mostrare un avviso se sei visita una pagina nota per contenere software ingannevole che può apportare modifiche indesiderate al computer


Gli utenti GNU/Linux otterranno ora miglioramenti nello scrolling delle pagine e prestazioni migliori durante la riproduzione dei video.
Non mancano poi alcuni miglioramenti sotto il cofano fra cui miglioramenti delle performance del NPAPI Plug-in, miglioramenti nella gestione della memoria quando si scalano le immagini JPEG e alcuni miglioramenti nella gestione dell'HTML5.
