Rilasciato MATE 1.10, ecco le principali novità



Martin Wimpress ha annunciato il rilascio di MATE 1.10, la nuova major release del desktop enironment nato come fork di GNOME 2 e che tanto successo sta riscuotendo fra nostalgici dei tempi che furono ma anche fra chi cerca un desktop moderno, veloce e poco avido di risorse.

MATE 1.10 viene rilasciato dopo ben 15 mesi di sviluppo che hanno consentito al team di aggiungere tante piccole novità e di migliorare il codice.
Vediamo quali sono le principali caratteristiche di MATE 1.10:
  • Ogni componente di MATE può essere compilato sia con le GTK2 che con le GTK3 (il supporto alle GTK3 è ancora considerato sperimentale)
  • Caja, il gestore file, ha ora un gestore di estensioni
  • Atril, il visualizzatore di documenti, supporta ora gli ePub
  • Aggiunto libmatemixer, una nuova libreria mixer audio per MATE Desktop che che fornisce una API astratta che consente l'accesso alle funzionalità mixer disponibili in PulseAudio, ALSA e OSS.
  • Migliorato il codice con conseguente riduzione di memory leak
  • Supporto ai temi GTK 3.16 incluso il supporto ai CSD e pop-over

MATE 1.10 è già disponibile su Fedora 22 e prossimamente arriverà su Linux Mint 17.2 MATE in uscita a fine mese.

  5. Non dimentichiamoci mai però che è grazie alla pubblicità se tanti servizi sono gratuiti e non mi riferisco solo a google. Tuttavia concordo con le parole di Larry Page, occorre migliorare l'integrazione dei messaggi pubblicitari, certi blog e quant'altro che riempiono di pubblicità con popup ovunque sono un danno per tutti, ma sopratutto proprio per chi investe in pubblicità.
