Clem, il patron di Linux Mint, ha quest'oggi annunciato il rilascio di Cinnamon 1.6 l'ultima incarnazione del fork di GNOME Shell che punta a realizzare un ambiente quanto più simile all'esperienza utente di GNOME 2.
Ma vediamo quali sono le novità principali di Cinnamon 1.6
- Workspace OSD: i workspace in Cinnamon sono ora persistenti ovvero è possibile crearli e saranno sempre disponibili anche al riavvio del sistema. Oltre a questo è possibile rinominarli.
- Window Quick-List: un nuovo applet che mostra tutte le applicazioni aperte nei vari workspace.
- Notifications Applet: un nuovo applet che tiene conto di tutte le notifiche (fa molto KDE n.d.r.).
- Alt-Tab Thumbnails and Window Previews: un nuovo Alt-Tab che ci consente di visualizzare anche le miniature dei programmi aperti.
- Improved Sound Applet: il Sound Applet è stato ridisegnato ed ora gode del supporto alle copertine degli album.
- Backgrounds Selection: possibilità di cambiare lo sfondo da Cinnamon Settings
- Nemo Integration: Nemo è ora il file manager predefinito e prende il posto di Nautilus.
